Spotlight on clinical trials

The clinical trial landscape has evolved immensely over the last decade, however, despite many advances, oncology trials often fail in their early stages. There are many hurdles that the field faces in the trek to achieving a desirable clinical trial outcome, not least the need to fill the gaps in our knowledge of cancer, optimizing trials with both the patient and data in mind, overcoming recruitment hurdles, and data management. In addition, there is no doubting the impact that the COVID-19 pandemic has had – delaying ongoing and future clinical trials – altering the timeline for cancer research.

To overcome these hurdles and continue to advance the oncology field, clinical trials must continually adapt and improve – but how?

In this Spotlight by Oncology Central, we will investigate the current oncology clinical trial landscape and the next steps needed to advance clinical trials in the wake of COVID-19.
