The world’s third most common cancer, colorectal cancer is responsible for an estimated 694,000 annual deaths worldwide; hence the disease is a hugely significant public health concern [1]. The few last decades have brought great improvements in survival across all stages of the disease. Many factors contributes to this advancement; earlier diagnosis, better pre-operative staging, neoadjuvant radiochemotherapy, refined surgical methods , introduction of pre- and post-operative multidisciplinary team conferences and adjuvant chemotherapy.
