Why are cervical cancer screening rates falling in the US and which groups are most affected?

A recent study has revealed why cervical cancer screening rates are declining in the US and identified which groups are most affected. The study finds significant disparity between sociodemographic groups in screening rates, especially in women from historically disadvantaged groups. Screening rates were lowest in Asian and Hispanic women, women living in rural areas, those without medical insurance and those who identify as LGBQ+. Lack of knowledge was the most frequently reported reason for not getting timely cervical screenings across all groups.
