Mailing HPV home kits doubles cervical cancer screening rates
Mailing HPV home kits to under-screened, low-income women improved cervical cancer screening almost two-fold compared to scheduling assistance alone, according to researchers at the UNC Gillings School of Global Public Health and UNC Lineberger Comprehensive Cancer Centerh (both NC, USA). The National Cancer Institute estimates that 14,000 women will be diagnosed with cervical cancer in the United States this year, leading to more that 4,300 deaths.
