A recent Collection from the National Institute for Health and Care Research (NIHR) brings together a range of resources on our current understanding of individual risk factors for breast cancer and makes recommendations for national screening programmes in the UK.

The Collection highlights current and upcoming research, which could lead to the earlier diagnosis and prevention of breast cancer. These include:

  • algorithms for risk prediction
  • risk stratified screening
  • risk-reducing surgery
