Study demonstrates improvement in young adult cancer survivor rates
Recently published in the Journal of the National Cancer Institute, the study demonstrates improvements in 5-year survival rates for cancer overall in young adults. The findings also highlight the lack of improvement in certain cancers.The researchers discovered that among 282,969 5-year young adult cancer survivors, 5-year mortality decreased from 8.3% among those diagnosed in 1975–1984 compared with 5.4% among those diagnosed in 2005–2011.
