Cryoablation could be as effective as surgery for the treatment of early-stage kidney cancer

Research led by Christos Georgiades (Johns Hopkins University, MD, USA) has demonstrated that cryoablation is as effective as standard surgical options for the treatment of early-stage kidney cancer. The findings – published recently in Radiology – also suggested that cryoablation could offer lower rates of complication.Percutaneous cryoablation is minimally invasive and considered as an alternative to surgery.
