Could a single dose of HPV vaccine be effective in preventing cervical cancer?

New research has suggested that a single dose of the HPV vaccine may be as effective at preventing preinvasive cervical cancer as multiple doses. The results have been published in Cancer, appropriately between Cervical Health Awareness Month (January) and National Cancer Prevention Month (February).Researchers from the University of Texas Medical Branch at Galveston (TX, USA) have conducted a retrospective analysis of over 130,000 females to examine different dose schedules for the HPV vaccine. They also examined groups of different ages to analyze the effect of earlier vaccination on the incidence of preinvasive cervical disease, which can develop into cervical cancer....
