European Association for the Study of the Liver Hepatocellular Carcinoma summit 2014: old questions, new (or few) answers?

As previously documented in this journal [1], the European Association for the Study of the Liver (EASL) organized the 2014 EASL HCC Summit in Geneva, Switzerland from 13 to 16 February 2014. A number of interesting issues on the management of hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) have been addressed during this meeting. However, our feeling is that only few answers have been given to those questions, mainly because of the still poor knowledge of the molecular basis and the natural history of HCC.
