National Cancer Survivors Day: an insight from Shrenik Shah

Until September 1997, the word cancer to me was like any other disease. However, this all changed when I was diagnosed with larynx cancer at an advanced stage, stage IV A. I had to learn the medical terminology like laryngoscopy, tracheostomy, stoma, biopsy, pathology report and radiotherapy. I underwent a wide field laryngectomy with tracheostomy, followed by 30 rounds of radiation. Since then I have been speaking with an electro larynx.
