MRI scan to be trialed as a test for prostate cancer in the UK

Men are set to be offered MRI scans as part of a clinical trial, which could lead to a national screening program in the UK for prostate cancer. The trial, termed ReIMAGINE, will assess whether MRI scans can be used as a population-based screening tool to detect prostate cancer, rather than the prostate-specific antigen (PSA) blood test, which is often unreliable.The trial constitutes of two parts, both of which are set to start in 2019.
