Radiotherapy shown to reduce risk of hormone-driven breast cancer recurrence

A trial has shown women with early, low risk, hormone-driven breast cancer who have post-operative radiotherapy, as well as anti-hormone treatment, are less likely to have disease recurrence.Run by the Austrian Breast and Colorectal Cancer Study Group (ABCSG) (Vienna, Austria) and presented at the ESTRO 38 conference (Milan, Italy, 26–30 April 2019), a recent trial has showed that after an average follow-up of nearly 10 years, there were only 10 cases of cancer recurrence in the same breast among the 439 women who underwent radiotherapy.
