‘Cellular soldiers’ prevent metastasis following surgery in mice

In an attempt to overcome the issue of post-surgery breast cancer metastasis, a team of researchers from Vanderbilt University (TN, USA) have developed a method to utilize the body’s own defense mechanisms and create 'cellular soldiers' that can kill loose cancer cells during surgical removal of tumors, helping to prevent development of metastasis.
