Ewing sarcoma (EwS) is a highly aggressive malignant tumor of bone or soft tissue, mostly affecting adolescents and young adults . Metastasis is a catastrophic event in the clinical course of EwS patients . Here, we summarize the current knowledge on several aspects that we consider being essential for a better biological understanding of EwS progression, and propose next steps for future research and therapeutic intervention.
