Implementing lung cancer screening: a checklist


Based on the results of the NLST [1], the US Preventative Services Task Force (USPSTF) has affirmed its recommendation regarding the value of low-dose computed tomography (CT) scans in finding early lung cancer [2]. The next steps entail ensuring provisions for appropriate reimbursement followed by national implementation of this screening service. From a clinical perspective, low-dose CT management is quite different from existing management strategies of clinically detected lung cancer.
